This bad mammer-jammer right here is coming to a race track near you…if you live in Italy, that is. It is the Aprilia Racing RS 660 Trofeo, and it is the middleweight-twin cup bike from Aprilia Racing.
Built around the Aprilia RS 660 street bike (obviously), the Trofeo version is a track-only machine from the racing department in Noale, and it means business.
Built with support from Italian brands like SC-Project, Pirelli, Brembo, and Andreani, the Aprilia Racing RS 660 Trofeo is another stepping stone in Aprilia’s racing lineup to develop young riding talent.
As such, it slots in above the the Aprilia RS 250 SP that debuted in 2019, and is the stepping stone before climbing onboard something like the Aprilia RSV4 Factory.
“The idea of this Trofeo came naturally, as soon as we realized how much the new RS 660 is not only beautiful to look at, but also to ride,” said Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing.
“It is a bike with excellent dynamic balance and in Aprilia Racing we decided to exploit it and immediately transfer it to a competition on the track that fits perfectly into our commitment to bring young riders to the race.”
“Last year the small Sport Production made its debut, now we want to create a coherent growth path, which starting precisely from the RS 250 SP can pass through the RS 660 Trophy, addressing ambitious guys who always have the dream of MotoGP in mind.”
To that vein, the Aprilia Racing RS 660 Trofeo will have a six-race cup series in 2021 aimed specifically at helping young Italian riders make their break into professional motorcycle racing.
For us in the United States though, the bike is a representation of what can be achieved with the Aprilia RS 660 on the race track, as the new model is certain to be disrupting the MotoAmerica paddock and club racing series in 2021.
We like the prospects of the Aprilia RS 660 in the twins/lightweight classes, and the Trofeo model doesn’t look too bad either.
