When we saw updates come to the Aprilia RSV4 superbike for the 2021 model year, we knew that a similar treatment was coming to the Tuono V4 line as well.
Now today, we get confirmation of that news, as the venerable streetfighter from Noale debuts with a facelift, some updates, and perhaps most importantly, a pretty clear distinction between the Tuono V4 and Tuono V4 Factory models.
It only takes one look at the 2021 Aprilia Tuono V4 to see that the bike gets a fairing upgrade for the latest edition, following the dual-layer fairing design (with its hidden aerodynamic strakes), first seeing on the Aprilia Tuono 660 model.
We can also see that the 2021 Aprilia Tuono V4 models get the new underslung aluminum swingarm that we first saw on the RSV4 a few months ago.
The 1,077cc, 65°, V4 engine remains unchanged from its previous Euro5 homologation, which means 175hp (129 kW) of peak power and 89 lbs•ft (121 Nm) of torque.
The Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) electronics package has also been updated, which means a new Magneti Marelli 11MP ECU being used, as well as a new six-axis IMU and software refinements.
The results is a faster and smarter package for the electronics system, which now includes multi-level engine brake control and six riding modes (three track and three street).
What is perhaps more interesting than these technical updates though is that the Noale brand has made new strides in the positioning that we are seeing now between the Tuono V4 and Tuono V4 Factory.
As such, the Aprilia Tuono V4 has grown some considerably more touring-focused attributes that make it a better bike for long-distance and commuting duties, whereas the Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory continues down its sporty path.
We can see a larger windscreen on the Tuono V4 now, along with a larger rear seat and rear grab rail. The suspension is the mechanical type, courtesy of Sachs (Öhlins semi-active electronic suspension is on the Tuono V4 Factory).
Asphalt & Rubber‘s understanding is that Aprilia will offer a bevy of touring focused accessories for the Tuono V4 as well, including semi-rigid panniers.
Meanwhile, the 2021 Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory keeps things sporty with its up-spec suspension and its short flyscreen windshield.
You can ride two-up on the Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory still, but only if you don’t give much consideration to your passenger’s comfort. All the Tuono V4 bikes come with cast aluminum wheels.
Both Tuono V4 variants are hitting European dealers as we speak, with pricing set at €16,990 for the base model Aprilia Tuono V4, and €19,990 for the Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory.
We don’t have word on US pricing at this point, but we do expect both flavors of the new Aprilia Tuono V4 to be in the USA around June of this year. More info on that as we get it.
