Jorge Martin Biography
Trained in the minor leagues, in 2012, Jorge Martin participated in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, but his first season was conditioned by several falls and injuries. The following year his performance improved, and he managed to finish runner-up. In 2014 he dominated the competition, winning the title in the penultimate race and the following year he made his debut in the Moto3 World Championship with the Mahindra Mapfre Aspar colours. He closed the season at 17th place with seventh place at Aragon as the best result.
In 2016, Martin continued his adventure with the Aspar team. In the following year, he joined the Gresini team and clocked a phenomenal season. The Spaniard dominated the qualifying Saturdays by signing the record of nine poles and collected his first success in Valencia after eight podiums. In 2018 he was among the main candidates for the titleholder. With seven victories, three podiums and ten starts at the pole, he was crowned as the new king of the lightweight class. For 2019 the move to Moto2 with Red Bull KTM Ajo team. In 2020, he claimed two wins and four podiums. For 2021, Martin joined Pramac Racing team in the premier class and now looks forward to a stellar debut.
