Were you one of the lucky 500 people who plans to put a KTM 1290 Super Duke RR in their garage this year?
If you weren’t quick to act, then the answer is probably no (the same answer should be given for those of us living in the North American market as well – sad trombone), as the Super Duke RR sold out in a mere 48 minutes when it became available for pre-order.
The Austrian’s say that the RR has a 90% track bias, and that is the justification for its up-spec suspension pieces, forged aluminum wheels, and carbon fiber solo seat tailsection (among other pieces).
For €28,900 in the European market, the KTM 1290 Super Duke RR costs a pretty penny for those features and exclusivity, and likely would have been a $30,000 machine had it come to the United States, which certainly is a tough ask.
But with KTM selling the RR only through a special pre-order website, the risk of only a few units needing to come across the pond could have been mitigated by the fact that there would be confirmed buyers, which makes it a shame US motorcycle enthusiasts didn’t even have the option to buy one.
For those outside the North American market, who still want a shot at putting an RR in their garage, KTM has set up a waitlist in case a reservation becomes available.
