Benelli makes the middle weight adventure tourer segment in India spicier by launching Benelli TRK 502 and TRK 502X at 5.00 lakh and 5.4 lakh respectively. It was first showcased in Auto Expo 2016, but it took them over two years to launch the motorcycle in India.
Both Benelli TRK 502 and 502X engines are powered by the same In-line 2 cylinders, 499 cc, 4 stroke, liquid cooled, 4 valve per cylinder with double overhead Cam Shaft, churning out 47 BHP at 8500 RPM and 46 Nm of peak torque at 6000 RPM. The engine is paired with a 6 speed gearbox. Shifting gears on this adventure tourer will not be an issue, all thanks to the hydraulic clutch. You get Dual-Channel ABS as standard on both models. The TRK 502 uses twin 320 mm floating discs with two piston caliper. Rear braking is handled by a 260 mm single disk.
The engine is wrapped around in an agile steel trellis frame. You get a 50 mm upside down front suspension and a mono shock suspension on the rear with rebound and compression settings being adjustable. So, gliding over Indian potholes will not be an issue. Being an adventure tourer, a big fuel tank is a must and Benelli sure knows that. TRK 502 comes with a massive 20 litre fuel tank. The wheel base of TRK 502 is 1525 mm and the seat height is around 825 mm, so shorter people might face some issue.
The Benelli has some fierce competition in its class which includes the Royal Enfield Himalayan, Kawasaki Versys 650, SWM Superdual T, and Suzuki V-Storm XT. But Benelli has got its product priced right and the adventure tourer scene has already started to take off in India, so it was a perfect time for the bike to be launched.
