KTM RC 8C with Winglets and 8hp more for the track-only bike

The 2nd edition of the KTM RC 8C racing roll not only comes with winglets but also with 8 HP more refined electronics. In addition, 200 copies will be offered this time – and the first 30 will be handed over on the GP track in Valencia.

The first KTM RC 8C came in 2021, was limited to 100 pieces, and sold out after 5 minutes. So it is not surprising that there is a second edition of this racing roll, which was again created in close cooperation with Kramer Motorcycles. This time in an edition of 200 copies.

Every KTM RC 8C has a special serial number stamped on the fork bridge. Orders can only be placed online directly with KTM. Apart from the fact that the pre-order should be possible shortly, there is no further information on this. Likewise, the price is not yet known. The last KTM RC 8C was available for around 35,400 euros, and a price increase for the second edition can certainly be expected.

135 hp, 142 kilos

Another increase can already be quantified in concrete terms: The revised LC8c in-line two-cylinder in the 2023 RC 8C delivers 7 hp more than in the predecessor, i.e., 135 hp at 11,000 rpm. The maximum torque of 98 Nm is available at 8,250 rpm. Coupled with a dry weight of 142 kilograms.

In the 2023 KTM RC 8C, the engine, which has been specially tuned for use on the race track, comes with titanium parts, a larger throttle valve, a reinforced fuel pump, and higher pressure. A Pankl oil cooler is supposed to ensure thermal stability and in order to optimize the durability of the engine, the clutch preload is increased and the upper balancer shaft is removed.

More comfortable tuning for more confidence

Also, on board, the 2023-KTM RC 8C is a new titanium exhaust system from Akrapovic and the latest WP Pro components. The Apex Pro fork and shock absorber are tuned a little softer in the second edition and should provide a little more comfort and confidence.

Thanks to refined electronics, wheelie and traction control, mapping, and engine braking should be adaptable to pretty much any level. A lot can also be adjusted on the vehicle itself, for example, the steering head by offsetting the CNC-milled fork bridge, the throttle response, and the bite of the Brembo Stylema brake calipers.

The revised cockpit of the 2023 KTM RC 8C comes with a GPS data logger and flashes lap record attempts. The switches on the handlebars are derived from the MotoGP RC 16 bike. And while the thumb gives commands, the left foot hammers through the reverse shift pattern – of course with the quick shifter.

And of course, the new KTM RC 8C doesn’t sneak past the current aerodynamic craze: the winglets! They should provide more stability both when accelerating and when braking.

Handover at the MotoGP track in Valencia

On April 26, 30 examples of the new KTM RC 8C will be ceremonially handed over at the Circuito Ricardo Tomo in Valencia. Selected spots will be allocated in order of registration – first come, curling up behind former Grand Prix drivers offering to be instructors. On-site, teams from KTM and WP Suspension also individually tune the RC 8C models to the 14 corners of the MotoGP circuit. Accommodation, meals, and the logistics of motorcycle transport are included.

CONCLUSION

After the success of the first KTM RC 8C, it is only logical that wealthy racetrack pilgrims should have second helpings. The first 30 will also be invited to an event on the GP circuit in Valencia. Let’s see how many minutes it takes to sell out with twice as many copies.
