Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 showcased at EICMA

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 uses the 648 cc twin that we already know from the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. With 47 hp (34.6 kW), Enfield thus almost exhausts the A2-compliant maximum output of 48 hp. The peak power is at 7,250 rpm, and the maximum torque of 52.3 Nm at 5,650 rpm. It is shifted through 6 gears.

Chassis designed for comfort

A 15.7 liter fuel tank and tubular steel frame enclose the twin cylinder. An upside-down fork with 41 mm stanchions cushions at the front, while stereo shock absorbers with 101 mm of spring travel with adjustable preload work at the rear. The new chassis is designed “for comfort and effortless gliding on long country roads,” according to the manufacturer. The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 comes with tires measuring 100/90 in 19 inches (approx. 48 cm) at the front and 150/80 in 16 inches (approx. 41 cm) at the rear. Deceleration is provided by a two-channel ABS with two-piston floating calipers and a 320 disc at the front, and a 300 disc at the rear.

In the cruiser tradition, the seat height of 740 mm is short-leg-friendly, and the footrests and handlebars also appear in the pictures as if they were suitable for both tall and short riders.

A mixture of classic and modern in the cockpit

In the cockpit, a round instrument provides information – chic and practical – that is equipped with an analog speedometer, which frames an LC display that also has a gear indicator. To the right of the large round instrument, there is a smaller round display that informs you about the time in a sober and easy-to-read manner. A USB charging socket is also on board the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650.

Classically shaped round lights with modern LED lights shine at the front and rear, and the RE logo is emblazoned on the front headlight. The same can also be found on the fork bridge and the seat cushion, among other things.

The Super Meteor 650 Tourer is the Grand Tourer variant and will be available in Celestial Red and Celestial Blue. It is supplemented by extensive original accessories. The “Solo Tourer Genuine Motorcycle Accessories Kit” includes, among other things, bar end mirrors and “deluxe footpegs”. The Solo Finisher Kit, in turn, has LED turn signals and brushed rims ready. The Celestial Red Super Meteor 650 Tourer presented by RE at EICMA 2022 features the Grand Tourer Accessories Kit, which includes a deluxe two-up touring seat, touring windshield, passenger backrest, deluxe footpegs, long-distance luggage, Touring handlebars, and LED turn signals included. The Interstellar Green Super Meteor 650 is presented in the standard format.

CONCLUSION

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 looks to us like an uncomplicated motorcycle that could appeal to old hands and beginners alike. Modern where it doesn’t bother, classic where it fits. And as we know Enfield’s pricing, it should also be an exciting vehicle for price-conscious prospects. However, RE did not give concrete figures at the EICMA.
